Redmi 2 Flashing CM13 Android 6 Full Flashing guide

This post will guide how to Install CyanogenMod 13 Marshmallow (Android  v6.0) on your Redmi 2 smartphone. cm 13 for redmi 2 Full detailed guide. 

Users who want a more flexible firmware and to taste the marshmallow version can Install this CM13 ROM. You will be also need to download marshmallow GAPPS for Redmi 2. 


We checked all the process and method on our Redmi 2 devices and we find no big issues and problems. its safe to install this ROM.

Lets flash it.,


You can use any CWM or TWRP, I suggest use TWRP. - twrp img download
You need to root your redmi 2 with TWRP because it will be needed to flash the Lollipop Rom.

What is CyanogenMod?
CyanogenMod 13 is a custom ROM based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over AOSP for your device. CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community.

Downloads required:

CyanogenMod 13: (This has list of Rom builds by Kumajaya. Latest CM13 build download

Open Gapps -  (This has all version of GApps) | you need gapps for android 6 (see image)


Choose any Variant. Here we used micro.

Instructions to flash CM13 on Redmi 2


First time flashing CyanogenMod 13 on your device, or coming from another ROM (e.g. MIUI)

WARNING: installing new ROM will factory reset your device! Accounts, applications, settings, etc will be lost! So make a backup of your files.

Step 1. Install TWRP or CWM Recovery follow this guide (Skip this if you already have a custom recovery.

Step 2. Put Both ROM file and GApps zip into an SD card. Or in Internal storage but don't clean the internal storage when doing next steps.

Step. 3 Reboot your redmi 2 into Recovery mode by holding PWR+VOL-UP.

if you used TWRP recovery from this guide, you need to keep pressing Vol up+Down than Power on button for 5 seconds.

In Twrp mode, tap on Wipe > Advanced >
Only Format user data, cache and Dalvik cache (Optionally System folder too)

Now press back button( soft navi) and tap on Install button.

Now choose "install ZIP" option in TWRP.
Locate and Install both the ROM and the GApps zip files

Reboot. now on first run phone will take 5-8 minutes to optimize all apps for first use.

    • Note - If you unable to open TWRP recovery after flashing it, Don't worry use this method.
#1. Copy both CM 13 and Gapps Zip into an SD card. And insert it in the phone.
#2. Open your phone fastboot mode and flash the twrp.img file and Twrp Recovery will open.

Now you need to clean your phone, on twrp windows tap on WIPE than ADVANCED and check first 3 options that says, cache- system - delvik cahe.

#3. Now tap back and tap on INSTALL optionm locate the ROM zip and flash it.
Now again go back and flash Gapps Zip.
Exit trwp and reboot your phone.

You will see the logo of Cyanogen when phone start, It took some minutes to optimizing apps and keeping itself ready.
